The proposed Quassaick Creek Estuary Preserve and Mill Trail is a vision shared by numerous groups, individuals, agencies, municipalities and organizations Orange County, New York. Since 1998, grants have funded studies, a charrette, meetings, planning, and acquisition along the Creek corridor from the Hudson River to Lake Street (Route 32), and more recently, to Scenic Hudson’s Snake Hill Preserve and trails.  The Quassaick Creek holds an abundance of biodiversity and a wealth of mill history, lending itself to a unique outdoor classroom for students of all ages.  Its now serene setting belies the bustling, industrial valley it was during the 1800’s and early 1900’s.  As envisioned, there will be a trail, interpretive center, trailhead park that is accessible to all, as well as an estuary preserve for the protection of the species that have survived two former centuries of industrial presence.
Creek flows into the Hudson River near the intersection of New Windsor’s Walsh’s Road & River Road.
